Call for Entry

9th Kuala Lumpur Experimental Film, Video & Music Festival – Call for Entry 2018

The Kuala Lumpur Experimental Film, Video & Music Festival (KLEX) is now accepting experimental short films until June 2nd, 2018. Here you can find more information about their Call for Entry.

KLEX is an independent, artist-run grassroots international festival of experimental film, video art and music founded in Malaysia in 2010. KLEX aims to serve as a platform to introduce contemporary experimental cinema and music from the region and worldwide to the Malaysian audience, as well as to introduce works from South East Asia to other parts of the world and vice versa, to cultivate understanding, learning, friendship and exchange among local, regional and international experimental art communities.

This year’s theme is “Translucence”; “Translucence has issues with clarity. Our eye fights to see clarity as clarity is defineable. Our comfort lies in a definition. The confidence to identify. A translucent facade or a trans-imagery allows a certain amount of light but clarity was never the goal. The image becomes only an essence of exactitude. A remnant of a definition.”

General Rules:
– Productions must be completed after January 1st, 2016.
– The Festival favors films within 20 minutes.
– You can submit up to 2 pieces of work only. Please provide separate entry forms and details for each work.
– Submission must be done via the KLEX’s website.
– Submission Fee: FREE
– Deadline: 2nd June, 2018.
