Day 2 | Tuesday| December 26th, 2017
Resume:
On the second day of the MMFF 2017 there were 3829 screenings on 167 venues. Gandarrapiddo: The Revenger Squad again led the screenings chart with 1137 screenings (29.69 %). At the bottom we find Ang Larawan with only 152 (3.97 %). As expected SM Cinema lead the chart with 1432 screenings.
Today we have to rise our first yellow card because we notice they pulled out “And Larawan” from 18 venues, “Deadma Walking” from 13 and “All of You” from 27. This clearly contradicts what the Executive Committee said on Dec 26, that “they want to encourage audience to support all 8 entries” (Rappler).
The MMFF is clearly pulling out less profitable movies, only to add screenings for more profitable movies such as “The Revenger Squad” who got 263 new screenings on Day 2.
The spokesperson for the MMFF, Noel Ferrer said on DZMM that Mall Owners and the producers of “Ang Larawan” met and agreed on the pull-out because they realized the film didn’t had a strong audience in some areas. Ferrer also said that the cinemas will again screen it on January 1st, 2018 (ABS-CBN).
