Best Short Film

Rough weather on a typhoon night. A middle-aged man living in an urban high-rise is making a pot of pork rib & preserved cabbage (dried cabbage) soup. The aroma of steaming soup evokes his memories; his memories turn into a cat, who travels back to the sunny Huofang of the old days. Outside the Huofang, Hakka women are busy making preserved vegetables. (SIFFF 2022)
Jury Award

Seeds for the Future, which stars the Roca brothers (El Celler de Can Roca), begins with the alarming extinction of crop diversity: a premise that the brothers discover in their local and personal surroundings, and that they continue to explore in other parts of the world. As they delve into the biodiversity conservation solutions offered by a series of different international experts, the protagonists begin a journey aimed at safeguarding their culinary heritage and family legacy. Special Mentions

An ageing grandmother loses her five senses, one after the other before finally becoming a wooden chair. Throughout her transformation, she realizes that her African housekeeper is not the wild animal she once thought she was, but the caring and loyal family member she was sadly lacking. A poignant story about illness and growing old which employs imagination and metaphor to show the difficult and painful process of departing. (SIFFF 2022)

Luis is a Deliveroo driver in Berlin who meets a very strange cus tomer. Ramesh delivers for Uber Eats in Hong Kong and gets ambushed. Hiro is working for Amazon Flex while pursuing his acting career when he receives a surprising offer from Amazon Studios. They are all connected through the chat function of an online pizza delivery simulator. They’re up to something. Only what? (SIFFF 2022)

Ha-jeong has been bounced from one relative home to another. It hasn’t been long since Ha-jeong stayed at In-hee’s. One day morning, Ha-jeong is in bed with a high fever and In-hee sits up with her. As the death anniversary of In-hee’s husband is around the corner, Ha-jeong and In-hee spend the whole day together for the first time. (SIFFF 2022)

Korea | 2022 – 13 minutes
Ladies in the second half of their lives needed cookies, coffee, and picnic lunches. In a park in the heart of a busy city, four middle-aged women go out on a picnic. They just enjoy little chatters with laughs while they eat and drink. For these ladies, there is no one way to live their best lives. (SIFFF 2022)
