
The Bangkok ASEAN Film Festival is accepting Short Films (for the ASEAN Short Film Competition) and Feature Films (for the SEAPITCH – Southeast Asian Project Pitch) until October 24, 2022.
About the festival:
The Bangkok ASEAN Film Festival, organized by Thailand’s Ministry of Culture, aims to promote the film of Southeast Asia to acquire a more prominent status in the international film community and to foster a co-operation between the regional film industry and other film industries around the world.
Eligibility for the ASEAN Short Film Competition:
– Director(s) or Producer(s) must be from Southeast Asia.
– The country of production can be Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Brunei, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
– All genres are accepted.
– Films must have been completed no earlier than 1 June 2021.
– Films must at least be a Thailand premiere, meaning entries must not have been broadcasted on TV, made available on the Internet or screened publicly in Thailand prior to the Festival.
– Short Films should be less than 30 minutes (running time includes end credits).
– Films in any other language other than English must have English subtitles.
– Submission Fee: FREE
– Deadline: October 24, 2022
– Notification Date: End of November 2022.

Eligibility for the SEAPITCH – Southeast Asian Project Pitch:
– The producer and director must be based in the Southeast Asian countries. Southeast Asia countries are: Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Brunei, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
– The director must be developing their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd feature film projects.
– The project must be represented by both a producer and a director. A director cannot apply as the producer of his/her own film project.
– Applicants can only submit one project.
– Applications must be completed in English.
– Applicants and selected participants must speak English (all meetings are in English).
Material to be submitted:
– Log Line (max. 60 words)
– Film Synopsis (max. 2 pages)
– Treatment (max. 12 pages)
– Director’s Statement (max. 2 pages)
– Director’s Biography and Filmography
– Producer’s Statement (max. 2 pages)
– Producer’s Biography and Filmography
– Estimated Production Budget in USD
– Financial Plan in USD
– Production Company’s Profile
– Development and production timetable
– Previous work(s) of the director (Links to shorts and/or feature-length films on Vimeo or YouTube ONLY)
These materials should be compiled into one PDF or Word document. All materials should be written in English.
Benefits for selected projects:
– Members of the selected projects will join two Zoom workshops to prepare for the pitch. The workshops will focus on document preparation and presentation skills.
– In the final session, each selected project will present an online pitch to the jury consisting of three internationally renowned members, who will decide on the following prizes:
*SEAPITCH Award – The winner will receive 5,000 USD and a trophy.
*Runner-Up Prize – The winner will receive 3,000 USD and a trophy.
*SPECIAL MENTION – The winner will receive 2,000 USD and a trophy.
