
In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the Seoul International Children’s Film Festival (Korea) named Kim Hwan-hee (김환희) as their first Cross Icon (Festival’s Ambassador).
Kim Hwan-hee (김환희) was bored on August 25, 2002, she began her career as a child actress in two drama series called “Robber” (불한당 | SBS) and “Don’t Cry My Love / I Love You, Don’t Cry” (사랑해, 울지마 | MBC) in 2008. She then got a role in “Taming of Heir / Invincible Lee Pyung Kang” (2009 | KBS2). 2011 would be her breakthrough year as she started in four drama series: “My Love, My Family” (KBS2 2011), “My One and Only” (KGS 2011-2012), “Come, Come, Absolutely Come” (MBN 2011-2012), and a drama special called “Our Happy Days of Youth” (KBS2 | 2011). That same year, she started her cinematographic career as she debuted in a fantasy short film called “Night Fishing” (Moho Films) by Park Chan-wook and Park Chan-kyong, starring Kpop idol Lee Jung-hyun. She would also appear in her first feature film called “Miracle” or “Bicycle Looking for a Whale” (Filma Pictures)” by Kim Youngro, featuring Lee Moon-sik and Park Ji Bin.

She would then continue working for various dramas until 2016, when she would become a worldwide recognized actress for her role in “The Wailing” (곡성) by Na Hong-Jin. In that film she played the role of Hyo-jin, the daughter of a police officer (played by Kwak Do-Won), who becomes possessed by an evil entity. This supernatural / horror film gained international recognition and several awards. It was also screened Out of Competition at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. Kim Hwan-hee won the Best New Actress award at the 53rd Daejong Film Awards (Grand Bell Awards), presented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea.
In 2018, she was awarded for her role in the drama “The Miracle We Met” (우리가 만난 기적 | KBS2), she received the Best Youth Actress Award at the 2018 KBS Drama Awards. In the same year she started another important role in the film “Student A” or “Middle School Girl A” (여중생A) directed by Lee Kyung-Sub. Last year (2021) she starred in the drama “Here’s My Plan” or “Got A Goal” (목표가 생겼다 | MBC), and was awarded Best Short Drama Actress at the MBC Drama Awards in December 2021.

This year, she is starring in “Good Morning” a feature film directed by Cha Bong-ju, starring Yoo Sun (My too Perfect Sons [2009], Never Said Goodbye [2015], Sweet & Sour [2021]), and the legendary actor Lee Soon-jae (High Kick![2006], Stand by Me [2018], Romang [2019]). The film tales the story of Sumi a desperate high school senior raised at an orphanage that one day decides to commit suicide. She is then saved by a hospice nurse called Seo-jin. The film will be screened at the Seoul International Children’s Film Festival on June 18th, 2022 (Saturday) at the CINEQ Sindorim 1 Cinema at 15:00 pm (KST). So be sure not to miss it!
