Bird in the Peninsula by Atsushi Wada – Japan | 2022 – 16 minutes

The boys are rehearsing a dance for their entry into adult life. A girl observes the scene but is not allowed to join in. When one of the boys chases after a strange bird, she follows him without knowing why. (Berlinale 2022)

Comments from the Jury: For the meditative journey full of uncanny rituals and interrupted fantasies, making the viewer a voyeur who shouldn’t be there yet witness the terrific consequences of the characters’ mysterious relationships.
