Programmer’s Note:
The slogan of the 10th Seoul Int’l Children’s Film Festival is “Listening to Children.” It means the wiliness to actively pay attention to and respond to the children’s voices. In that sense, Mission Ulja Funk was selected for the opening film this year. The film is about the challenge of Ulja, a 12-year-old girl who loves science. Throughout the film, it depicts the adventure in search of asteroids observed by Ulja in a cheerful mood, but it also comically pinpoints the parents and adults in the village, who oppress the children’s thoughts and have no respect for them at all in the name of religion and tradition. It suggests a vision how to respect with each other when the adults and children within the units of ‘family’ and ‘village.’  (Danny KANG)
