Jaclyn Jose was awarded at the Cannes Film Festival with the Best Actress Prize for her role in the film Ma’Rosa directed by Brillante Mendoza.

Jaclyn Jose words after receiving the award: “I dont know what to say…. I am so surprice… thank you to Cannes, thank you so much, thank you to the Jury. Thank you that you liked our film. Thank you to Mr. Brillante Mendoza, I was just following what he is saying and telling me to do. He’s a brilliant director, and a genious. Thank you so much. Ma’ Rosa has four children. She owns a small convenient store in a poor neighborhood of Manila where everybody likes her. To make ends meet, Rosa and her husband, Nestor, resell small amounts of narcotics on the side. One day, they get arrested. Jaclyn Jose is a Filipino actress born in Angeles City (Philippines). Throughout her extensive career she has portrayed many memorable roles in Films and TV series, such as A Secret Affair (2013), Sarong Banggi (2006), The Flor Contemplacion Story (1996), Naglalayag (1996), Itanong MO sa Buwan (1989) to name a few. Her acting skills have earned critical acclamation both by local and foreign award-giving bodies.
