The Chatterboxes directed by Ken Kawai will open the Ginmaku Japanese Film Festival which will take place from May 26 – 31, 2026 at the Cinema Houdini & Riffraff in Zurich, Switzerland.

In a small town striving to embrace diversity, a Japanese family with a deaf father and son lives in careful balance — until a Kurdish family moves in nearby. A small incident gently shifts the neighborhood, as children from both families begin reaching across the distance. What starts as a subtle disruption opens a shared space where people slowly begin to rethink what it really means to listen and understand one another.
