The Cartoons Underground (Singapore) is accepting international animated short films until July 1, and Singapore student shorts until August 1, 2025.

About the festival:
Cartoons Underground (CU) is Singapore’s premiere and largest animation film festival, dedicated to showcasing the best award-winning international and local animation works. The festival is held annually in October and will bring together animation filmmakers, artists, producers and industry professionals in a unique celebration of this wonderful medium.

Eligibility:
– The festival accepts short films that applied animation techniques.
– Films should not exceed the 30-minute mark.
– Films should be completed after January 1, 2023.
– Singapore students can send their films for the Singapore Student Animation section.
– Films with dialogues or narrations in languages other than English need to have embedded English subtitles in the screening copy.
– Submissions must be done via FilmFreeway.
– Submission Fee:
* International Short Films – $ 4 USD
* Singapore Student Shorts – FREE
– Deadline:
* International Short Films – July 1, 2025
* Singapore Student Shorts – August 1, 2025
– Notification Date: September 15, 2025
