When Hui’s absentee father suddenly reappears, Hui and her little sister are filled with joy. However, when he announces their upcoming journey abroad, Hui knows she is forced to reveal his mental illness. At age 10, she chooses to act naive, shielding his dignity. (TaiwanFF 2024)

Reclaim My Summer by Chen Hao-wei – Taiwan | 2023 – 29 minutes

Everyone and everything deserves a second chance. Seventeen-year-old Xuan grew up in a recycling yard. The only opportunity she gets to hang out with her friends is when she goes out collecting recyclables from neighbors… (TaiwanFF 2024)

Separation Season by Lin I-ju – Taiwan, Czech Republic | 2024 – 28 minutes | World Premiere

In June, a graduation month, college graduate Ting experiences a sudden separation from her close cousin Jane. During a series of rituals, Ting tries to defend Jane’s choice against their family and seeks an answer to Jane’s suicide and their lives. (TaiwanFF 2024)

Tayal Forest Club by Laha Mebow – Taiwan | 2023 – 19 minutes | Asian Premiere

Bullied at school and weighed down at home by his dad’s drinking, Yukan is eager to escape it all. When his best friend, Watan, invites him on a hike, a physically and emotionally bruised Yukan grabs his machete and the two boys head into the woods. (TaiwanFF 2024)

Amidst the scorching rural countryside, among the neighbors, her mother-in-law, and the sound of chickens. Chen Wen-yi is the new one in town, a wife, a daughter-in-law, and perhaps in the future, a mother. However, will there finally be a moment when she can purely be herself? (TaiwanFF 2024)
