These are our six recommended Asian short films from the ANIMAC International Animation Film Festival of Catalonia, taking place from February 15 – 18, 2024 in Catalonia, Spain.

Bergamot by Yanqi Liang – China | 2023 – 7 minutes

Buddha’s Hand, another name for the fruit also known as fingered citron, explores the binary mother-daughter relationship as it shifts and grows. Buddha’s hand and human hands are similar but different, opposite but compatible, which reflects the mother-daughter relationship: resembling but refusing to resemble, contradicting but sticking together, pulling apart but connecting.
