9th Asian World Film Festival – Opening Film 2023

Concrete Utopia directed by Um Tae-hwa will open the Asian World Film Festival which will take place from November 8 – 17, 2023 in Culver City, Los Angeles, USA.

Concrete Utopia by Um Tae-hwa – Korea | 2023 – 130 minutes
In the opening minutes of this post-apocalyptic epic, an earthquake renders Seoul a smoldering ruin. Min-seong and Myeong-hwa, survivors trapped in their apartment complex, are forced to make difficult decisions about who to let in and who to keep out. As days pass and no rescue teams arrive, tensions rise and the tenants must be prepared to protect their property by any means necessary. (AWFF 2023)

About the director:
Um Tae-hwa was born in Seoul. He has directed the short films Heart Vibrator (‘11) and Forest (‘12) and the features The Battle of Internet Trolls (‘13) and Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned (‘16). Concrete Utopia (‘23) is his latest film.
