Showing Up directed by Kelly Reichardt will open the Seoul International Women’s Film Festival which will take place from August 24 – 30, 2023 in Seoul, Korea.

Lizzy, a talented sculptor who is preparing to open a new show, must balance her creative life with the daily dramas of family and friends. Lizzy’s landlord and a rival artist Jo frequently spars with her. She has to go to see her brother Sean, who is in mentally unstable condition. Can Lizzy make it through to the opening of her show? Kelly Reichardt’s vibrant and captivatingly funny portrait of art, craft and life, Showing Up premiered at the Cannes Film Festival 2022.

About the Director:
Kelly Reichardt is an award-winning American film director and screenwriter. After her feature debut, River of Grass (1994), she subsequently directed a series of films such as Wendy and Lucy (2008), Meek’s Cutoff (2010), Certain Women (2016), and First Cow (2019) to explore the theme of American scenery, rural communities, and marginalized beings. She previously taught at New York University, SUNY Buffalo, Columbia University, and the School of Visual Arts, and has been teaching as an Artist-in-Residence at Bard College since 2006.
