CCCL Film Grant – Call for Projects 2023

Dear Asian filmmakers, the CCCL Film Festival is accepting short film projects (that deals with climate change) until July 23, 2023. *Only for Thai and Southeast Asian filmmakers*

About the grant:
CCCL Film Festival offers film production grants to emerging Thai and Southeast Asian filmmakers. The program aims to identify and nurture new talent who present exciting ideas on a film about climate change impacts, adaptation, mitigation, and sustainability. With climate change impacts posing more challenges to habitat, health, agriculture, and employment, they wish to encourage Southeast Asian youth and others to raise awareness about climate change issues through the power of film. They are seeking powerful storytellers who can visualize the impact of climate change on the environment and on our lives in creative ways.

The program offers production grants (up to 30,000 Baht per project). CCCL will be selecting 10 projects to participate in the program which will offer a climate consultation (per request) and feedback session. The final works will be considered to be exhibited at the 4th Annual CCCL Film Festival in February 2024.

Eligibility:
– Applicant must be a resident of Southeast Asian countries (Brunei, Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, Timor-Leste, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam).
– Young filmmakers in ethnic minority communities or rural areas affected by climate change are highly encouraged to apply.
– Applicants who apply to this program must be a director and/or a producer of the film.
– Accepts short film proposal with the theme of climate change*.
– The total length of the projects must not exceed the 15-minute mark.
– There is no age requirement for the film grants.
– Applicants may not have experience in producing a short film before.
– Accepted applicants must commit to attending mandatory online events and following the CCCL’s guidelines.
– Projects must be completed by November 30, 2023.

Deadline: July 23, 2023 (11.59 PM – GMT+7)
Notification Date: August 15, 2023

Program’s Key Date
August 25 – First draft screenplay delivered
August 31 – First installment payment
September 4-15 – Advisory session (per request)
October 27 – First draft short film delivered
October 31 – Second installment payment
November 30 – Completed film delivered

IMPORTANT: All film projects produced in the CCCL Film Grants program will be owned by the grantee. However, the grantees grant CCCL Film Festival distribution rights, including showing at third party events or venues, using the films for promotion, marketing, and entering the films in other film festivals by governmental and non-governmental organizations. The festival may also have the right to screen the grantees’ projects at CCCL events and on all social media platforms of CCCL and its sponsors and partners.

* Sample of climate topics
Water security, Food security, Biodiversity, Impact on wildlife, Sustainable agriculture, Gender-based violence from the impact of climate change/environmental impacts or natural disasters, Renewable, low-emission energy for the poor, Sustainable mobility/transport, Innovative/transformative technology solutions, Nature-based solution, Community empowerment (local specific or population groups), and Roles of children, youth, women, and underrepresented, vulnerable/affected groups.
