The Ape Star by Linda Hambäck will open the Busan International Kids & Youth Film Festival which will take place from July 5th – 12th, 2021 in Busan, Korea.
About the festival:
BIKY is the one of the best festivals that has provided a venue for children and teenagers to communicate through various films from all around world. BIKY has one competition called ‘Ready~Action!’ for films directed by children and teenagers. BIKY aims to discover films by young directors and develop new contents in the relevant fields for the future.
The feisty young Jonna dearly wants to be adopted. She will accept anyone, really, so long as her new parent loves Jonna … and only Jonna. But when her potential new mom drives up to the orphanage in an old car, she gets a big shock when the door opens … and a gorilla steps out! Jonna is not sure she wants to leave with the big, clumsy primate at first, but ape and girl quickly overcome their physical differences. Can their newfound domestic bliss survive the scheming of a local bully who’s out to separate the two? (BIKY 2021)

About the director:
She is film director and head of the LEE Film production company. She works mainly with animated films for children, and her first feature, the widely distributed GORDON & PADDY, had its world premiere at the 2018 Berlin Film Festival. THE APE STAR will be her second feature. Before her directing debut Ms. Hambäck had produced several highly acclaimed shorts.
