We present a list of 10 documentaries you cannot miss at the 18th Jeonju International Film Festival that is taking place from April 27th – May 6th, 2017 in South Korea.

About my bicycle by Park Donghyun – South Korea | 2017 – 91 min.
Korean Cinemascape – Documentary

In three parts about Korea’s modern history and personal experiences, the film tells civilian massacres, Gwangju Uprising, conflicts, division, exclusion, and their implications to a person.

Another Year by Zhu Shengze – China | 2016 – 181 min.
Frontline – Documentary

The film captures 13 dinners of a migrant worker’s family for 14 months. Through 13 static, long takes in real-time, the film aims to craft a meditation on China’s economic boom and massive urbanization.

An old dog is living in a vacant lot. Camera approaches the villagers to reveal the dog. While people share their memories, memory and reality are intertwined to form an atmosphere.

The Bamseom Pirates is a Korean band infamous for striking lyrics and ruthless words. When their album producer was arrested for retweeting North Korean tweets in 2011, the band faced a serious crisis.

Blue Butterfly Effect by Emmanuel Moochil Park – South Korea | 2017 – 93 min.

A small county Seongju staged protests against the THADD. Young mothers led protests from concerns about their kids and the exposure to radiation. Gradually, they learn the system is good for nothing.
