We’re excited to share the first part of our list of short films you shouldn’t miss at the Seoul Independent Film Festival, running from November 28 to December 6, 2024, in Seoul, South Korea.

ADA-Dance by LEE So-hyeon – South Korea | 2024 – 18 minutes

Ea-zy, who has just turned 30, suffers from an obsession with having sex. Unable to join her friends’ conversations that inevitably turn to sex talk, she confidently opens up to them about her masturbation experiences, but it only makes it more obvious that she is still a virgin. She attempts a one-night stand with an interested coworker, but he too fails to give Ji an orgasm. Ancestors are Nowhere by YUK Kwang-su – South Korea | 2024 – 30 minutes | World Premiere

Two women lead the funeral of Jinrye, matriarch of Korea’s longest-running family of Pansori masters with a history spanning 300 years.

Her daughter, Chae-seon, is celebrated as the greatest master of our time and the guardian of the Pansori tradition, and the person standing beside her is the successor of the family heritage, So-ryeon, who dreams of a path that diverges from the family legacy.

The one who enjoys the glory created by the ancestors and the other one who seeks to escape the curse of the ancestors. Finally, the different songs from each of them begin to resonate. (SIFF 2024)

Yoonjae is about to transfer to another school. Yoonjae has a short conversation with Minseo, who she encountered on her way to school. Even after the conversation, the afterimage of each other is not easily erased in their minds. After school, the two head somewhere. (SIFF 2024)

Jae-hyun, an apprentice at a motorcycle center, learns that the owner of an unclaimed motorcycle died while riding a different one. Naho and Hitomi are a high school girl couple living in a rural town in Japan. Naho wants to be a K-POP idol in Korea, and Hitomi supports her devotedly despite never believing that such a dream will come true. When Naho passes one of the auditions, Hitomi decides to collect empty plastic bottles to take unexpected action. (SIFF 2024)
