We present the winners of the Asian Film Awards which was held today (March 10, 2024) at the Xiqu Centre, in Hong Kong.

Best Film Award

Evil Does Not Exist by Ryusuke Hamaguchi – Japan | 2023 – 106 minutes

“Evil Does Not Exist” follows Takumi and his daughter Hana, who live in Mizubiki Village, close to Tokyo. Like generations before them, they live a modest life according to the cycles and order of nature. (Mubi)

Kore-eda Hirokazu for Monster – Japan | 2023 – 121 minutes

After discovering that a teacher is responsible for her young son’s sudden change of behavior, a mother storms into the school demanding to know what’s going on. As the story unfolds through the eyes of the mother, teacher and child, the truth gradually emerges. (Mubi)

Jiang Qinqin for Dwelling by the West Lake (dir. Xiaogang Gu) – China | 2023 – 115 minutes

Yakusho Koji for Perfect Days (dir. Wim Wenders) – Japan, Germany | 2023 – 125 minutes

Hirayama lives a life of blissful contentment, spending his days balancing his job as a caretaker of Tokyo’s public toilets with his passion for music, literature, and photography.
