Yangzi’s Confusion directed by Li Jue will open the Asian Film Festival Barcelona which will take place from October 25 until November 5, 2023 in Barcelona, Spain.

When the 10-year-old Yangzi steals her mother’s diary, she discovers that she was abandoned at a young age, causing a communication breakdown between her and her mother. As tensions come to a head at a family gathering, where three generations of women are present, Meihui (Yangzi’s mother) confesses her struggles and they begin to bridge the gap, forging a new relationship. About the director:
With a solid foundation from training at the prestigious New York Film Academy and India Whistling Woods International School, Jue Li has honed her skills in acting and directing in the US, India and China. As an actor, Jue Li showcased her talent in the film Out of Crimes, selected at the prestigious Warsaw International Film Festival in 2018. As a director, Jue Li has demonstrated her vision and storytelling ability with her short feature film Landing Report. This short feature earned her a distinguished Youth Film Handbook Jury Special Mention Award in 2020, further solidifying her talent as a director to watch. Her last feature film, Yangzi’s Confusion, has been nominated for Best Film at the Beijing International Film Festival 2023.
