
These are twenty short films you shouldn’t miss at the Seoul International Children’s Film Festival which will take place from September 13 – 20, 2023 in Seoul, Korea.

Boy With Stars by LEE Yun-ji – Korea | 2022 – 17 minutes
Gyeol, a young water carrier, lives in a little hut on a mountainside with his grandfather and their old dog. One day, his grandfather brings home Bana, a lost young girl who has nowhere to go. The three become a family. (SICFF 2023)

Elephant in the Dark by KIM Nam-seok – Korea | 2022 – 21 minutes
Visually impaired Woohyeon and her hearing-impaired friend Ha-yan team up to uncover the culprit who broke the camera during a film shoot. This short film was produced in the ‘Barrier-Free’ format. (SICFF 2023)

Finding Home by HONG Yeon-I – Korea | 2022 – 16 minutes
Yeon-woo, an orphan, visits Hae-jin’s real estate agency in search of a house. Hae-jin finds herself torn between the landlord, who refuses Yeon-woo’s contract, and the urgency of Yeon-woo needing to secure a house that very day. (SICFF 2023)

Gravity by Park Ji-in – Korea | 2023 – 27 minutes
Young-sun grew up in a children’s home from an early age. She only saw her mother once a year on her birthday. It’s her 18th birthday and Young-sun hopes to finally live with her mother. (SICFF 2023)

Hope by Kim Hee-eun – Korea | 2023 – 18 minutes
Bin falls asleep while watching videos that hold memories of her time with Hyun-joon. As her dreams intertwine with reality, Bin sets out on a mission to rescue Hyun-joon. (SICFF 2023)

I Will Catch You by Park Su-bin – Korea | 2022 – 15 minutes
Yu-na and Da-ol, former best friends, faced a strained friendship after breaking promises during the class president election. Now, they engage in a fierce competition, hunting for rare Pokemon bread and collecting stickers. (SICFF 2023)

Jiwon and Yulia by Moon Hae-jun – Korea | 2022 – 19 minutes
Jiwon, a 19-year-old 4th generation Koryo-saram (Korean-Uzbek), joins her Korean friend Hani and new acquaintance Sunwoo to rescue their crumbling friendship amid Hani’s college exam preparations. (SICFF 2023)

Just Let Me Sleep Tonight by KIM Kyung-rok – Korea | 2023 – 18 minutes
Hyun-ah asks her teacher, Jung-hoon, to let her stay over just for one night. Jung-hoon refuses her request and goes home, but Hyun-ah ends up inside his closet. Knowing Hyun-ah’s secret, Jung-hoon finds it difficult to send her away. (SICFF 2023)

MoonParkJiHo by Kim Dong-min – Korea | 2022 – 30 minutes
Ji-ho grows fond of his soon-to-be stepfather, who can save him from the single-parent after-school program. However, the situation changes when Ji-ho’s biological father reaches out after eight years of absence. (SICFF 2023)

My Little Aunt by AN Sun-you – Korea | 2022 – 28 minutes
In this thrilling story, 12-year-old So-young experiences “breast growth” and her family faces challenges in the midst of the COVID-19 era. Despite everyone being preoccupied with their own worries, So-young’s heart expands through a dream. (SICFF 2023)
