10 Asian films you shouldn’t miss at the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival 2023

These are ten Asian films you shouldn’t miss at the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival which will take place from June 30 – July 8, 2023 in Neuchatel, Switzerland.

Note: The list may include movies made by filmmakers with Asian ancestry

Cobweb by Kim Jee-Woon – Korea | 2023 – 135 minutes

While shooting his latest feature, a once-revered director dreams of another ending for his film. Convinced he can pull it off, he schedules two extra days of shooting. But his new script turns out to be confusing and unconvincing for the censors… Plunge in a film within the film about the 1970s South Korean film industry with Cobweb, a unique, dream-like movie that explores the challenges of the creation process. Kennedy by Anurag Kashyap – India | 2023 – 142 minutes

Kennedy is a former cop suffering from insomnia. Officially thought to be dead, he works for a corrupt system, desperately in search of his own redemption… A gripping, sometimes poetic crime drama that delivers a corrosive critique of local Mumbai politics, Kennedy is an ambitious and creative neo-noir. Anurag Kashyap’s new film – part of Cannes’ official selection this year – is, as always, poles apart from the dominant Indian blockbuster culture. (NIFFF 2023)
