Kanna Hashimoto named TIFF Ambassador

The organizers of the 30th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) announced that Kanna Hashimoto, Japanese idol actress and singer, was named Ambassador of the festival.

Ms. Hashimoto will appear at the opening Red Carpet and the Opening Ceremony to introduce one of the TIFF VISION 30, “Enlightening – opening doors for emerging creators”.

We remind readers that the 30th Tokyo International Film Festival will take place from October 25th until November 3rd, 2017 in Tokyo, Japan.


About Kanna Hashimoto:
Born in 1999 in Fukuoka. Hashimoto has been active as a professional since third grade. She gained massive attention in 2013 when a fan took a photo of her performing at an event and posted it on the internet. She was lauded “too much of an angel” and a “once-in-a-thousand-year beauty”, and ventured into various work including commercial work for corporations like Rohto Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., and UHA Mikakuto Co., Ltd. She appeared in her first starring role with the film Sailor Suit and Machine Gun: Graduation (2016) which earned her the Newcomer of the Year Award at the 40th Japan Academy Prizes. Other films include the Assassination Classroom series (2015, 2016). She appeared in her second lead role with Haruta & Chika released in spring of 2017. She plays the heroine in both Gintama released in summer 2017, and Psychic Kusuo released in fall 2017. She plays Keiko Usuki in Fuji TV’s MPD: Animal Unit which started airing in July. This marks her first heroine role in a television series.
