The Pasifika Film Fest works to showcase and inspire the creation of Pacific stories through film; and empower Pasifika writers, directors and actors to explore their links to Pacific culture.
In 2013 the Pasifika Film and Arts Festival ran out of Studio 2204 in Marrickville, Sydney. Since then, this festival has grown exponentially and was rebranded to become the Pasifika Film Festival in 2015. Last year Pasifika Film Festival had its base at Hoyts Cinema 14-17 in the Entertainment Quarter of Fox Studios, Moore Park, with smaller sessions at Hoyts Cinemas, Blacktown, Information Cultural Exchange and 107 Projects in Redfern.
Over the 4 days of the festival in 2015, we sold out shows, facilitated 1 international premiere, 2 Australian premieres and almost 2000 people walking through our doors. We had 21 total films programmed into the festival which included 11 sessions of feature and short films. We awarded 5 awards with a diverse panel of judges from the Pacific, Indigenous and film communities in Sydney and New Zealand.
