
The Festival Film Dokumenter (Indonesia) is accepting documentaries until July 27, 2026.
About the festival:
Festival Film Dokumenter (FFD) Yogyakarta is the first documentary film festival in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Organized by Forum Film Dokumenter, the festival has grown into one of the region’s most important platforms dedicated to documentary cinema.
Each year, FFD presents a diverse program of documentary films from Indonesia and around the world. Through film screenings, discussions, exhibitions, and workshops, the festival creates a space where filmmakers and audiences gather to engage with documentary as both an artistic practice and a form of public knowledge.
Eligibility:
– The International feature-length documentary Competition is open public, for all age and citizenship (except Indonesians). The minimum film duration is 40 minutes, including credit title. Production year of 2024-2026.
– The Indonesia Feature-Length Documentary Competition is open to Indonesian filmmakers. The minimum film duration is 40 minutes, including credit title. Production year of 2024-2026.
– The International short documentary Competition is open public, for all age and citizenship (except Indonesians). The maximum film duration is 40 minutes, including credit title. Production year of 2025-2026.
– The Short Documentary Competition is open for Indonesian filmmakers. The maximum film duration is 40 minutes, including credit title. Production year of 2025-2026.
– Films that have had commercial public release in Indonesia or have been widely available on major OTT/VOD platforms prior to the Festival may not be eligible
– FFD only accepts Films submitted by the copyright holder, rights holder, or authorized distribution representative.
– The Student Documentary Competition is open for Indonesian students, junior to senior high. Director and film crew must be students during the film production. Application must include scan/photo of student id, or official letter from school stating applicant’s student status. Films submitted must have been completed after November 20, 2024 with no duration restriction. All films submitted must be provided with English subtitles. Films with regional dialects must include subtitles in both Indonesian and English.
– Films containing linguistic content and/or spoken dialogue, including without limitation English, must provide embedded English subtitles.
– Shortlisted films can’t be retired from the festival programme.
– Submission must be made via FilmFreeway.
