Myanmar Resistance directed by Tommaso Cotronei will open the Kolkata People’s Film Festival which will take place from January 23 – 26, 2026 at the Uttam Mancha in Kolkata, India.

Myanmar youth, born after the student protests and crackdown of 1988, who had tasted freedom over the past decade under the leadership of Aung San Suu Kyi, never imagined they would have to take up arms and fight. They never thought that they would have to take refuge in the forest and get military training. They are kids like any other in the world, who lack a comfortable bed, lack online games, lack meals shared with their parents, but who have sacrificed everything to do away with the military dictatorship.
