35th Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival – Call for Entry 2026

Dear Asian filmmakers, the Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival (Brazil) is accepting short films until January 25, 2026.

About the festival:
Festival Curta Cinema – Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival – is exclusively dedicated to the promotion and exhibition of short-length audiovisual works. We are a competitive festival that exhibits films produced in digital format with a maximum length of 30 minutes. The programming of Festival Curta Cinema consists on: International and National Competition, Latin American and Rio Panorama, Youngsters Panorama and Special Programs. Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival – Curta Cinema – qualifies the winners of its National and International Grand Prix for an Oscar nomination according to the rules of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Eligibility:
– The festival accepts all kind of genres (fiction, documentary, experimental, animation, etc.)
– The festival accepts short films under 30 minutes in length.
– Films should have been produced between January 2025 and January 2026.
– The films sent for selection must ensure they have the copyright to the images and the soundtrack contained in the work to be exhibited at the Festival and public non-profit screenings and exempt the organization of Festival Curta Cinema from payment of any copyright when screening.
– The formats for film exhibition will be DCP and/or H264. Other formats may eventually be used and will be analyzed case by case by the Festival producers.
– Submissions must be made via FilmFreeway.
