48th Cinéma du Réel International Documentary Film Festival – Call for Entry 2026

Dear Asian filmmakers, the Cinéma du Réel International Documentary Film Festival (France) is accepting documentaries until November 3, 2025.

About the festival:
Cinéma du Réel reflects the diversity of documentary film genres and approaches. Through its various programmes, the festival aims to create a dialogue between contemporary creation and the history of documentary film. They nevertheless insist on the fact that the festival does not aim to present news broadcasts, documentaries of a journalistic nature, promotional or corporate films.

Eligibility:
– The festival accepts both short and feature documentaries.
– Films must have France Premiere to be eligible for Competition.
– Priority will be given to films never screened anywhere in the world (world premieres) and to films never screened outside of their production country/countries (international premieres).
– Films must have been completed after January 14, 2025.
– Films sent for consideration must be in their original version and subtitled either in English or in French (if spoken in another language).
– NEW RULE: The call for films will be closed after 1800 films have been received and on 3 November at the latest.
– No waivers will be granted.
Submission Fee: $ 50 Euros
Deadlines:
* Films completed after July 31, 2025 – November 3, 2025
* Films still under completion on November 3, 2025: Online submission duly completed by 3 November 2025 and viewing material to be sent by 10 November 2025
Notification Date: mid-February 2026
