The Wedding Banquet directed by Andrew Ahn opened the Golden Horse Fantastic Film Festival which will take place from April 11 – 20, 2025 in Taipei, Taiwan.

Frustrated with his commitment-phobic boyfriend, Chris, and out of time, Min makes a proposal: a green card marriage with his friend Angela in exchange for expensive in vitro fertilization treatments for her partner, Lee. Plans change when Min’s grandmother surprises them with an elaborate Korean wedding banquet. It is a reimagining of Ang Lee’s 1993 Oscar-nominated romantic comedy, with contemporary perspective and touch. (GHFFF 2025)

About the director:
Born in 1986 in Los Angeles, Andrew Ahn is a Korean American filmmaker known for Spa Night, which won the Special Jury Prize at Sundance 2016, Driveways, selected for Berlinale’s Generation Kplus section; and Fire Island, a Primetime Emmy Awards nominee. Ahn’s latest work, The Wedding Banquet, premiered at Sundance 2025.
