Dear Asian filmmakers, the Directors’ Fortnight (France) is accepting short films until March 14, and feature films until March 21, 2025.
About the festival:
Created in 1969 by the Société des Réalisatrices et Réalisateurs de Films (SRF), the Directors’ Fortnight is an independent sidebar at the Cannes Film Festival, which is dedicated to showcasing the most singular forms of contemporary cinema.
As opposed to the official selection, the Fortnight is non-competitive; it brings together short, medium- and feature-length films, fiction and non-fiction, live action and animation. Only one principle guides our selection: a filmmaker’s attendance to mise en scene, and their unique mode of artistic expression.
Note: The Official selection (Competition, Out of Competition, Un Certain Regard), the Critics’ Week and the ACID are all processed by distinct entities.
Eligibility:
– The festival accepts shorts (under 29 minutes), medium length films (between 30 – 59 minutes), and feature films (over 60 minutes).
– Films must have been made within the 12 months preceding the 2025 Cannes film festival.
– With the exception of its country of origin, the film should not have been presented at any international festival or film event (except in the context of a film market).
– Films must not have been shown on the Internet or broadcasted on TV or commercially released in France.
– If selected, a DCP or a 35mm print will be required for the screening.
– Films must have English subtitles.
