Dear Asian filmmakers, the FestCurtasBH – Belo Horizonte International Short Film Festival is accepting short films until June 30, 2024.

About the festival:
FestCurtasBH – Belo Horizonte International Short Film Festival, in its almost 30 years of existence, is taking firm and vigorous steps. The editions follow one another in a trajectory that is not – and does not pretend to be – linear: the multiplicity of collaborators, films and proposals are a fundamental part of the strength of the Festival, which was created in 1994, with a five-year break between the second and third editions. The invisible thread that lines its history is the unwavering commitment to the strength and freedom potentially implicit in the short film in its unique condition as cinema. Open to all genres and formats, FestCurtasBH is particularly interested in experimentation and in engaged and inventive film forms. The Festival also emphasizes its research character and has dedicated itself to reflecting on the history of cinema, revolving, together with the films, some of its lines of force and aesthetic and political operations, such as the legitimization, erasure and retaking of works, authors and procedures.

Eligibility:
– The festival accepts short films with a maximum running time of 45 minutes (except advertising, institutional films, series and music videos), finished in 35mm, 16mm film formats or any digital format.
– Films must have been produced in 2023 or 2024.
– If the film has dialogues in languages other than Portuguese, the preview copy of the film must be subtitled in English or Portuguese.
– Submissions must be done via ShortFilmDeport or via the festival’s website.
– Submission Fee: FREE
– Deadline: June 30, 2024
– Notification Date: October 4, 2024
