“Dive” by Aldo Iuliano, “Cross My Heart and Hope to Die” by Sam Manacsa, and “My Mother’s Story” by Soyoung Kim and Minhee Jang will open the Busan International Short Film Festival, which will take place from April 25 – 30, 2024 in Busan, Korea.

Two teenagers get to an isolated beach to forget the world around them and spend time together. A story about friendship, perhaps about love but most importantly about life challenges and courage. A dive into an uncertain future. (BISFF 2024)

Cross My Heart and Hope to Die by Sam Manacsa – Philippines | 2023 – 18 minutes | Korean Premiere

Mila struggles as she remains unpaid at work and a love interest becomes a source of comfort through his constant phone calls. But a promise of hope may also lead to tragedy and sad love songs. (BISFF 2024)

My Mother’s Story by Soyoung Kim and Minhee Jang – Korea | 2023 – Asian Premiere

Notsae shares childhood stories with her daughter Eunsung. She reminisces about her first love who was drafted into the military, the day electricity first arrived in the village, and her dearly missed mother. As she unravels her memories, Notsae’s longing for the irreplaceable hometown deepens. Eunsung decides to illustrate her mother’s life in a comic book. (BISF 2024)
