48th Hong Kong International Film Festival – Opening Film 2024

All Shall be Well directed by Ray Yeung will open the Hong Kong International Film Festival, which will take place from March 28 – April 8, 2024 in Hong Kong.

Ray Yeung’s long-awaited follow-up to the award-winning Suk Suk once again shines a spotlight on Hong Kong’s marginalised LGBTQ+ community, this time through a bittersweet tale of late-in-life emancipation. Angie and Pat have been romantic partners for decades. When Pat dies unexpectedly, the lack of legal protection for same-sex couples means that Angie risks losing everything in her twilight years. In addition to exceptional performances by Suk Suk co-stars Patra Au and Tai Bo, this empathetic drama also features a rare appearance from starlet Maggie Li. Teddy Award, Berlinale. (HKIFF 2024)

About the director:
Born in Hong Kong, the director presented his debut feature film, Cut Sleeve Boys, at the 2006 International Film Festival Rotterdam. The film went on to win awards at a number of festivals and secured an international cinema release in several countries, as did his second feature film, Front Cover, in 2015. His third feature, Suk Suk, celebrated its premiere at the Busan International Film Festival in 2019 and screened in the Berlinale Panorama in 2020. The film was nominated for five Golden Horse Awards in Taipei and nine Hong Kong Film Awards.
