
Dear Asian filmmakers, the New York Film Festival (USA) is accepting short films until May 6, 2024.
About the festival:
The New York Film Festival highlights the best in world cinema, featuring top films from celebrated filmmakers as well as fresh new talent. Since 1963, the New York Film Festival has brought new and important cinematic works from around the world to Lincoln Center.
Eligibility:
– The festival accepts only short films under 40 minutes from any genre (fiction, documentary, and experimental)
– All films submitted to NYFF must be New York theatrical premieres. “Premiere” is defined as any film having not screened for the public in the greater New York area, or having received a screening in a festival operating within New York state. Films must not have additional screenings in the New York area during the festival dates, ending October 13, 2024.
– Films that have shown theatrically in New York or virtually in the United States, have been broadcast on television prior to NYFF or are available on home entertainment formats (including Blu-Ray/DVD/TVOD/VOD) will be deemed ineligible.
– Films not in English must be subtitled in English unless dialogue is minimal and not necessary for the comprehension of the Film.
– The applicant holds the sole responsibility of copyright clearance of any copyrighted material in the film. Films including unauthorized copyrighted material are ineligible.
– Films that have been previously submitted to NYFF are ineligible.
– Films publicly exhibited before the 2023 edition of NYFF (September 29, 2023) are ineligible.
– Submissions must be done via FilmFreeway.
– Submission Fee: $ 50 USD
– Deadline: May 6, 2024
– Notification Date: August 16, 2024
