The Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival (Japan) is accepting fantastic films until May 15, 2024.

About the festival:
The Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival (hereinafter referred to as Yubari Fanta) is held in Yubari City, Hokkaido, and is organized and managed by the Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival Executive Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Executive Committee). This is the 34th time the event has been held since it started in 1990. This film festival is aimed at his science fiction, horror, fantasy, adventure, action, suspense, animation, and other fantastic films that are rich in imagination and entertainment.

The purpose of Yubari Fanta is to provide a place for citizens, filmmakers, and audiences to communicate and meet by discovering and nurturing new talent and promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding between countries around the world through film. By doing so, they aim to contribute to improving the quality of entertainment films not only in Japan but also in countries around the world.

Eligibility:
– The festival accepts short films (below 40 minutes) and feature films (over 40 minutes).
– The festival accepts films from all kinds of genres (fiction, documentary, experimental, and animation).
– Films must have been produced after April 1, 2023.
– Submitted films must have English subtitles.
– Films must be submitted via the festival’s website.
– Submission Fees:
* Short Films – ¥ 2200 JPY
* Feature Films – ¥ 3300 JPY
– Deadline: May 15, 2024
– Notification Date: End of June 2024
