
Dear Asian filmmakers, the Vancouver Queer Film Festival (Canada) is accepting films until March 31, 2024.
About the festival:
The Vancouver Queer Film Festival is one of the largest queer arts events in Western Canada, located on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. They illuminate, celebrate, and advance queer lives through film, education, and dialogue. Each year, they showcase eleven days of outstanding cinema, live performances, community-building events and parties, all with a background of beautiful mountain and ocean views.
Eligibility:
– The festival accepts feature films (over 40 minutes) and short films under 40 minutes (fiction and documentary), along with episodic projects for Web or TV.
– Films must be created by 2SLGBTQIA+ storytellers and/or center around 2SLGBTQIA+ protagonists.
– Films must be produced 18 months before the festival.
– Films available for purchase or publicly viewable online are not eligible
– Films must be submitted via FilmFreeway.
