
These are twenty short films you shouldn’t miss at the Seoul Independent Film Festival which will take place from November 30 until December 8, 2023 in Seoul, Korea.

50cm by Kim So-jeong – Korea | 2023 – 23 minutes
Ga-yeong, who is visually impaired, and her lover Eun-jeong prepare to run a marathon using their own method, but find themselves in constant conflict. (SIFF 2023)

A Long Alone by Yeo Eun-a – Korea | 2023 – 8 minutes
A record of disconnected time and place, from solitary death to discovery. One year period after a person’s solitary death, is shown in time-lapse. Inside the house, there are traces of one’s life, from which the audience learn, about the details of the person’s life. The time of the house has stopped at the time of the person’s death. On the contrary, the exterior landscapes constantly change, rendering a feeling of contrast. A year later, his body is found, and the scene of his death is cleared by special cleaners. (SIFF 2023)

Bibitan by Dan Dongyoon – Korea | 2022 – 16 minutes
Ye-eun’s boyfriend cheated on her. Her best friend Da-jung wants to take revenge. She practices shooting. (SIFF 2023)

Burger Song Challenge by Kim Min-ha – Korea | 2023 – 22 minutes
The poor class president, elected over a rich candidate, participates in the Burger Song Challenge, to buy burgers for classmates. (SIFF 2023)

Cold Breath by Chae Han-young – Korea | 2023 – 22 minutes
Seung-yeon and Yeon-su breaks up before their 100 days anniversary. Yeon-su asks Seung-yeon to go to see her mother. (SIFF 2023)

Gravity by Park Ji-in – Korea | 2023 – 27 minutes
Young-sun grew up in a children’s home from an early age. She only saw her mother once a year on her birthday. It’s her 18th birthday and Young-sun hopes to finally live with her mother. (SIFF 2023)

Hole by Hwang Hye-in – Korea | 2023 – 24 minutes
Jeong-mi visits Gusi apartment complex to conduct a survey on child welfare, where she meets siblings, Jun-hui and Jun-seo. They claim that their parents will be back soon, but they seem to be reciting memorized lines. Then, the two lead Jeong-mi to a bedroom and point at the floor where a manhole cover is embedded in the floor, underneath the yellow linoleum flooring. The children ask Jeong-mi to go down into the manhole. (SIFF 2023)

Home by Jeong Jae-hee – Korea | 2023 – 13 minutes
A woman sorts belongings of her deceased mother. Uncanny phenomena occur in her house, and she recalls memories of her mother. (SIFF 2023)

How to Get Your Man Pregnant by Noh Gyeong-mu – Korea | 2023 – 30 minutes
This film is set in South Korea in the year 2030. Jeonghwan and Yujin have been married for ten years. Yujin is worn out after multiple failures in conceiving through IVF treatment. Dr. Samsin Kim, a genious, has been researching on male pregnancy technology, which has now become available for the public. Yujin convinces Jeonghwan to visit Dr. Kim, and gets him into the male pregnancy project. (SIFF 2023)

My Heart is Going to Explode! by Jung In-hyuk – Korea | 2023 – 20 minutes
After a love affair full of gaslighting comes to an end, Soojin is haunted by the green-lit girl she slept with in a drunken stupor the night before. Her body was glowing; she literally emitted green light. Soojin’s friends scold her for losing her mind, but suddenly a UFO appears in the sky of Seoul and starts attacking everyone. Will Soojin be able to find the green girl in the middle of hell? (SIFF 2023)
