Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman by Pierre Földes – France, Canda, Luxembourg | 2022 – 100 minutes
A giant talkative frog, a tray cat, and a tsunami help a bank employee, his wife, and a schizophrenic accountant save Tokyo from an earthquake and find meaning in their lives.

The creative origin of this animated film begun with the director initially approaching Murakami to adapt on of his novels. However, Murakami provided him with this collection of short stories instead. Thery selected several stories with the intention of creating an anthology. As they worked on the screenplay, the director saw the potential to treat the characters from each story as different facets of the same character at various life stages. This lead to the experiment of intertwining the stories and characters into a cohesive narrative. (KDIAF 2023)
