We continue with our list of short films you shouldn’t miss at the Indie-AniFest – Seoul Independent Animation Festival which will take place from September 14 – 19, 2023 in Seoul, Korea.

How to Get Your Man Pregnant by NOH Gyeongmu – Korea | 2023 – 30 minutes
This film is set in South Korea in the year 2030. Jeonghwan Choi and Yujin Kang have been married for ten years. Yujin is worn out after failing to conceive through IVF treatment. The genius medical doctor, Dr. Samsin Kim, has been researching male pregnancy technology, which is now available publicly. Yujin convinces Jeonghwan to visit Dr. Samsin Kim and he is sucked into the male pregnancy project. (Indie Anifest 2023)

LAST ORDER by JO Hangjin – Korea | 2023 – 12 minutes
A pizza guy goes on a late-night delivery to a suburban apartment. Despite long flights of stairs, room 1601 is nowhere to be found. Instead he is left with grim, mysterious illusions and traces. (Indie Anifest 2023)

Moirai, Thread of Life by Ina CONRADI, Mark CHAVEZ – Singapore | 2023 – 6 minutes
Set in the distant future, an astronaut in search of unexplored lands finds herself gravitating towards a mysterious force in a strange cave. The viewer follows her through a journey of discovery and understanding as she gets pulled into another dimension, her ‘self’ entwined and connected with the larger fabric of the universe.

Drawing inspiration from the Moirai, the film symbolically represents the quantum realm. Like the white-robed incarnations of destiny in ancient mythology, the interconnected threads of quantum phenomena weave the destinies of all beings together. Each individual plays a vital role within the larger cosmic whole. (Indie Anifest 2023)

My Dear Son by Wing Yan Lilian FU – Hong Kong, UK | 2022 – 9 minutes
In a capitalist city where people have kids to show them off, a woman named Rose unexpectedly gives birth to a cat son. The baby doesn’t behave like an ordinary baby and Rose struggles to love him. Rose tries her best to change him, even if it means changing his true nature. However, in order to find a connection, she will need to learn to love him for who he is and remember something about herself that she had forgotten for a long time. (Indie Anifest 2023)

Set Sail by Jo-Ti LEE – Taiwan | 2023 – 9 minutes
At Grandpa’s funeral, the granddaughter is overwhelmed by her memories of the old days with Grandpa. From the granddaughter’s viewpoint, a glimpse is taken into the past when a young man goes to Taipei, struggling for a living under the changes in the early era in Taiwan as well as the sacrifice he made for the family as the eldest son and his true wishes in life. Somewhere in Asia, a boy lives with his sick grandmother instead of his father who went to work in the mine. One day, he leaves the house with a gun to get revenge on a wolf who killed a lamb. However, the boy chasing the wolf gets lost in a blizzard and faints. After a while, the wolf reappears, drags him somewhere. (Indie Anifest 2023)

Tomato Kitchen by Junyi XIAO – China | 2022 – 9 minutes
An accident interrupts Lee’s dinner with his colleagues. The dark truth of the Tomato Kitchen along with Lee’s hidden past are revealed by this unexpected incident… (Indie Anifest 2023)
