We take a look at the Asian films that will be screened at the Dokufest International Documentary and Short Film Festival which will take place from August 4 – 12, 2023 in Prizren, Kosovo.

China is in the process of establishing a dictatorship based on Big Data. The film accompanies people who are fighting against an all-controlling surveillance system and in danger of being crushed by it. Thanks to exclusive and intimate access, this long-term observation shows the lives of several activists fighting for human rights, who live under extreme surveillance and traumatisation. At the same time, the film’s scope broadens to include ordinary citizens whose daily behaviour is registered and evaluated by an experimental scoring system.

A husband and wife married for 5 years, own an Odong-Odong at the carnival together, spending their days entertaining and taking care of other people’s children without any of their own. Between meddling relatives, self-doubt and an explosive confrontation, they uncover why they have not been blessed with a child

To escape from the suffocating daily routine, Lu, a young filmmaker, makes her getaway to the countryside where she meets an eccentric man who calls himself by the name of a famous Tang dynasty poet, Du Fu.
While Lu finds that Du Fu could make a perfect documentary protagonist, Du Fu seems becoming more and more like a fictional character Lu wrote in her script, a poet who decides to commit suicide.
A young scam call operator is thrust into a moral dilemma as she navigates a life-changing situation.
