Salaya Documentary Film Festival (Salaya Doc) was initiated in 2011 by Thai Film Foundation collaborated with Film Archive (Public Organization). The festival’s main aims are promoting documentary films among Thai society and supporting Thai and ASEAN documentary filmmakers. Though no competition in the first edition, the later presents ASEAN documentary competition.The festival awarded the Best ASEAN Documentary to Denok and Gareng (Indonesia), Before the Wedlock House (Singapore), Behind the Screen (Myanmar) and Flat 03 (Singapore). Moreover, the festival showed many well-known and awarded documentaries around the world; National Gallery, The Look of Silence, Flower of Taipei, Love is All, Your Music, At Berkeley, The Missing Pictures, To Singapore with Love, Songs of Rice, Boundary, Golden Slumbers and etc.
Besides the film screenings, during the festival, there have been the workshop for Thai documentary filmmakers. Our mentors include Asako Fujioka, Uruphong Raksasad, Nguyen Trinh Thi, Sourav Sarangi, Kazuhiro Soda, and Leonard Retel Helmrich.
